Bucks Cut Ties with Former 5-Star Kentucky Recruit

Chris Livingston was a player that the Milwaukee Bucks had anticipated being a member of their roster for the upcoming season.

In addition to everything else, they provided him with a guaranteed contract for the 2025–2026 academic year.

But the Bucks have changed their strategy lately.

It was reported by Shams Charania of ESPN that Livingston was released from his contract on Thursday.

“Livingston, the last pick in the 2023 NBA draft, signed a guaranteed deal in the offseason with the Bucks, who are in midst of a crunch for their final 15-man roster,” Charania wrote in an article for X.

Livingston, who was born and raised in Akron, Ohio, made his way to the University of Kentucky as a highly regarded and top-15 prospect at one point.

He was selected by the Bucks with the 58th and final pick in the draft in 2023, and since then, he has played for Milwaukee in a total of 42 games.

In his first season, Livingston participated in exactly 21 games, and he continued to do so in his second season, again consisting of 21 games.

In those games, he has only played for an average of 4.7 minutes per game, yet he has scored 1.3 points and grabbed 1.3 rebounds per game.

However, despite his powerful 6-foot-6 and 220-pound frame, Livingston is not a particularly impactful outside shooter, which is a factor that lowers his overall worth.

Because of his family history, it is highly likely that Livingston will be given another opportunity to play for a team sooner rather than later.

Additionally, the Bucks might make an effort to put him on their G League squad, which is known as the Wisconsin Herd.

On the other hand, he will not be starting the year in Milwaukee.
